CTzen Stories: Supreet Kini on Corporate Culture: Backbone of the Organization

CTzen Stories: Supreet Kini on Corporate Culture: Backbone of the Organization

Everyone has a story waiting to be heard. We’re highlighting some of the amazing stories from within CleverTap — from our very own CTzens — because we believe in the amazing people we work with everyday and want to share the exciting work culture that we’ve built together. Presenting: the CTzens of CleverTap.

Supreet Kini: In His Own Words

Startups have always fascinated me. During my internship, I joined a travel company that does experiential tours. The team was comprised of four to five members, but the learning was vast. From there, when I joined a structured company, my pace of learning slowed down. I think that when a startup is at a nascent stage, there is a lot of chaos and overlapping of roles, and this is where the learning takes place—learning that’s in a more wholesome form and on another level. I always feel like I thrive on chaos and that it contributes to my growth.
Whether you’re deciding to accept a job offer from a startup or a well-established brand, one of the most critical aspects of your professional life will be the workplace culture. The organization’s environment or “vibe” is so powerful that it can make or break your job experience. It can also influence your long-term employment or, in the worst circumstances, your speedy retreat back to the job market.

Expanding My Skill Set

I joined CleverTap at a very early stage when it was just 25 employees, and I grew with it. The atmosphere was terrific. In my earlier days here, I made a couple of mistakes concerning a customer, and I thought I would be fired for it. Instead, there was no blame placed or drama involved. At CleverTap, you learn to acknowledge your mistakes, learn from them and move on, ensuring you don’t repeat them. Hard work is encouraged and appreciated.
In the early days, I would brainstorm and sit in overlapping meetings, and this was a tremendous help in taking my skill set to another level. Being a small team, everyone was approachable. My friends outside of work saw my development and growth and approached me wanting to be a part of CleverTap. I ended up referring a total of eight people. In all honesty, it was easy to make these referrals because CleverTap has been such a fantastic company to work for. Fortunately, regarding the referrals I made, they were a perfect fit for the roles they applied for and are performing well for the company.

Adapting and Thriving

CleverTap also improved my ability to adapt. In my previous role in Customer Success, I learned to empathize with my clients, understand any difficulty they had using the platform, and help resolve their challenges. I am a complete introvert, and speaking out is always a big challenge for me. But one quality I do have is empathy which requires an ability to understand the customer and find the right solutions for them—and I have worked hard to foster this trait.
When I moved into a Sales role, I managed a number of existing accounts, and it was a smooth transition in terms of communication. I have always strived to serve our customers to the best of my ability, which has helped me form a bond of trust with them.
Back in my mechanical engineering days, I was an average student. When I joined CleverTap, I was in a room of people from esteemed universities. At the top of the game, I struggled at times to express myself, but I was always welcomed with open arms. The inclusive environment I experienced back then hasn’t changed over the years.

Opportunities and Impact

CleverTap still embraces every new employee with the same zest and allows them to express themselves and approach in case they are stuck. I genuinely believe American business magnate Larry Page when he says, “Make sure everybody in the company has great opportunities, has a meaningful impact, and is contributing to the good of the society.”
I have seen that manifest here at work and am fortunate to be a part of this fantastic organization. At CleverTap, we don’t do business with companies, we do business with people, which applies both internally and externally.
