In today’s fast-paced world, how important is it to strike a perfect balance with different aspects of life? Ralitsa Petrova, Email Deliverability Specialist from our Bulgaria Office, believes in having a perfect work-life balance and shares her mantra for it in her own words. She talks about her family, her pets, her work, and the different transitions in her life and how she deals with each one of them.
I’m very lucky to have a great home, filled with love and care. My mother is my rock; she raised me all by herself and has always made it look so easy. I’m extremely grateful for my pets, an amazing dog and a lovable cat. They are my world! They helped me stay sane during COVID and have always made me feel better, even at the worst of times.
I studied fashion design and French in high school. I then studied interior design at university and began working as a waitress while studying, to support myself. Therefore, I had absolutely nothing in common with the technical support field.
I used to work at an Italian restaurant in a mall when a friend of mine — who was working for Sutherland in a technical support project — offered to refer me for a position. I was skeptical since I didn’t have any experience in that field. But the position only required proficiency in English. I was placed in an email support team, and it was an amazing change. I started off as an associate, then a senior for two years combined, and finally, I got promoted to the technical lead of my email team.
I then moved on to Leanplum, a company that is full of caring people, genuinely interested in moving mountains for the success of the company — with amazing managers and overall people in charge. The culture we have is truly remarkable. I’ll always and forever be grateful for the three amazing years I had with Leanplum while it was a startup.
The first challenge that I faced while transitioning from waitressing to a technical support role was going through a series of interviews, which I had never done before.
The other challenges involved getting used to time management and learning technical troubleshooting, along with a lot of terms that were completely unfamiliar to me. But with a lot of research and help from my team, things started coming together.
I’ve always worked hard, regardless of my workplace or job role, and it paid off in the form of promotions and appreciation. I grew by learning from mistakes, taking on different job roles, and learning from my colleagues.
When two companies merge, there are a lot of transitions. As CleverTap acquired Leanplum, the transition had some initial hiccups. My CleverTap journey so far has been a learning experience for me. I think it’s been like that for everyone, on both sides. There are still a lot of things we need to figure out together, for our platform but the future looks promising.
We have now transitioned into one single team with common goals. Our bond grew as we created internal processes together, such as developing an onboarding process for ourselves in tandem with the CleverTap team, along with other new collaborations. All through the process, our manager at CleverTap was supportive and encouraging. I’m impressed how everyone I’ve met so far ‘puts the pedal to the metal’ — giving their all to make sure we come out on the good side at the end of this merging process.
My family keeps me going. Growing up, I didn’t have luxury monetarily, so I’ve always had a goal to be able to provide the best I can for my family. I believe in working to live, not living to work, and striving for a perfect balance for myself. I want to do what makes me happy, and I am currently delighted to say that I’m able to do that. I truly believe, “Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
