Dhorkin Tanda in Aurangabad takes the first step towards becoming self reliant

Aurangabad (India), September 5, 2022- Nabhangan Foundation, a not-for-profit organization working in rural sustainable development, today announced that it has rebuilt the Zilla Parishad School in Dhorkin Tanda, Aurangabad, Maharashtra with the help of CleverTap, a leading global B2B SaaS platform for customer engagement and retention. Nabhangan Foundation and CleverTap today inaugurated the revamped state-of-the-art school that is built sustainably with climate-responsive design.

Nabhangan Foundation has been working in the drought-affected villages of Marathwada for the last 8 years. The Foundation’s emphasis is on all-around rural development and community building to empower villages to be  self-reliant. One of the projects it undertook was to build an environmentally sustainable and eco-friendly school to ensure continued and immersive learning for the children of the village. The Foundation, supported by CleverTap, rebuilt the Zilla Parishad School located in Dhorkin Tanda, a small village in Paithan Taluka of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra, India.

The Zilla Parishad school is a Marathi-medium school with a capacity of 35 students. The school was lacking essentials like light and ventilation, sanitation facilities, adequate hygiene, and a kitchen for mid-day meals. Nabhangan Foundation rebuilt the school while adhering to four key principles: climate, resource availability, cost, and construction feasibility.

“Every child has the fundamental right to education. For the last eight years, our organization has been on a mission to strive for the development and empowerment of rural India,” said Rajshri Deshpande, Founder, Nabhangan Foundation.“With this sustainably rebuilt school, we hope to empower the children to take charge of their futures and give back to their community and village. Building capacity and resilience in rural India is the only way to bridge the Bharat and India divide, and through strategic collaborations with partners like CleverTap, we remain committed to India’s equitable transformation.”

“We are honoured to have been a part of Nabhangan Foundation’s effort to ensure access to quality education for the children of Dhorkin Tanda village,” said Sidharth Malik, CEO at CleverTap.“Education is the bedrock for empowerment. CleverTap is committed towards helping communities by working across different areas like education, healthcare, women empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods. The new Zilla Parishad School is a step towards that. Our hope is for a multiplier effect, where the children can harness their potential, secure livelihoods, and better the lives of their families and communities.”
